I think you should stay by real RDBMS and not so freaking stuff like MS SQL. And why do you compare the "small" Oracle RDBMS with MSSQL?
There was a competition (from www.tpc.org) between Oracle 10GR2, DB2, MSSQL 2005(?) and MySQL5. By 9000 transaction per minute sucked MS SQL and DB2 immense whereat performance of Oracle and MySQL was continuously increasing.

the installation went smooth
but when i tried to login to db adminstration via
http://localhost:8080/apex
with sys or system and the password (which i have given during the /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure)
It says invalid login credentials
Please Help me out
